Final Portfolio

The subject for my final project is the relationship between light and color. The portfolio will comprise 12 color images depicting places and things that invoke emotional and cognitive responses to primary and secondary subjects. Certain visual elements within the image may be abstracted for aesthetic purposes.

The reason for choosing light and color for the direction of my project is because I have learned to appreciate the various ways light effects subjects differently at different times of the day. Fifteen minutes in one spot can make a huge difference as far as lighting goes.

I will approach this project from a personal point of view stemming from the observations gained from the first two assignments dealing with color temperature and time of day and mixing artificial light with natural light. From these assignments, I will incorporate different levels of light; highlights and low lights. I will use shadows and the angle of the sunlight to create a varied perspective. You can put three photographers in one area and none would have the same images. I chose to show how I see things and places through the lens of a 12 mega-pixel Cannon Powershot.

In conclusion, these 14 photographs encompass my life in Tallahassee. Looking at these images I feel a sense of mystery. I intended for the viewer to use their imagination to determine some of the not so clear aspects of my images. I learned that to create a image that evokes emotion, you do not need a great scene, you just need a good eye and a unique idea. I want the viewer to look at these images and look at them for what is outside the frame. This should create mixed feeling between what is both in and outside the frame. There is always more to life than what meets they eye.
